With the power of social media Rhoesheena & Thomas got in contact with me last year looking for their dream wedding cake, they feel in love with a design I created which was of a four tiered white wedding cake with a willow wreath which was a bit different from the other wreath/Hoop wedding cakes I had seen trending. I then incorporated flowers to it which highly complimented the wreath and the addition of the Mr and Mrs wooden topper sourced by Fira Studio ( by the way they make fab cake toppers if you are looking for one for your wedding day.
They both decided that this wedding cake was the cake they wanted for their special day. So they opted for a ganache finish which means you still get that beautiful white cake but with no fondant ( who actually likes fondant anyway, right! ) but the flavours are out of this world because who doesn't like chocolate and cream. It's an amazing medium to work with especially in the hot weather. Well if we had any hot weather all it seems to do is rain at the moment!
But what do they say when it rains on your wedding day? Well they say it's good luck, so it's worth getting your dress a bit wet girls!
Right back to the cake, let's talk about the flavours they chose. The bottom tier was my amazing ( yes I am going to blow my own trumpet because it is the best! ) carrot cake, with orange zest buttercream....oh it's making my mouth water! An the other tiers where a more traditional flavour of vanilla layered cake with vanilla buttercream and strawberry conserve, just scrummy.
The wreath was then decorated around the florals they were having for their wedding. With some beautiful pink roses, blush stocks, eustoma, white spray roses, gyp, fern and eucalyptus supplied by Emma Patterson Floral Designs It looked absolutely stunning.
So off I trot from my little wedding cake studio in Tortworth, Gloucestershire to the stunning venue of Clevedon Hall, oh wasn't I in for treat, a magnificent wedding venue fit for a princess.
With its tall celling I was shown in by the lovely Verity to the library where the wedding cake was to be set up. As I was setting up their wedding cake I feel in love with the beauty of this cake and here it is I hope you like it too!
Words from the bride
" Thank you so much Vicky, It was both gorgeous and delicious! In fact I had a slice for breakfast two days later and it's still divine! "
